Mac Basics: How to find your Mac's IP address
Survey: Games top usage on tablets, too

According to a survey done by Google's AdMob, games are the number one use of most tablet computers out there, including Apple's own iPad and iPad 2. As you can see from the chart above, 84% of tablet owners play games on their devices, a use that's apparently ahead of even email checking, search, or newsreading and social networking. That's interesting -- when the iPad was first introduced, Steve sat on a couch and read email and news, but it turns out that once you get these things in people's hands, the number one thing they're doing is playing games.
Just like the iPhone, playing games are a big deal on these mobile devices, and they're also a big way Apple has been able to sell both apps and hardware.
Additionally, 38% of respondents say they use their tablets more than two hours a day, and 82% have been using their tablets at home. Anecdotally, I'll guess that these are still supplementary devices, though -- people are using their tablets while watching TV or otherwise engaging rather than using them directly. Only 28% of respondents say the tablet is their primary computer, but 43% say they do use the tablet more than a traditional PC. Interesting to see how usage patterns on tablets are really inserting themselves into an everyday work flow.

Steve Jobs was top choice for Google CEO
Steven Levy's new book, In The Plex: How Google Thinks, Works, and Shapes Our Lives, has some interesting insights regarding the relationship between Steve Jobs and Google throughout the years. Perhaps most interesting is the fact that when Sergey Brin and Larry Page were looking around for a new CEO their first choice was Jobs.
Jobs turned them down, but saw enough in Google to see that it could be a success; he offered to mentor the two founders, going so far as to provide them with access to his closest advisers. After Jobs declined the Google CEO position, Brin and Page chose Eric Schmidt as CEO and Schmidt also later joined Apple's board of directors. That's when things quickly took a turn for the worse.
As Levy states in the book, Jobs was "furious" when he visited Google's Mountain View headquarters and saw that the Android OS sported iOS features like pinch to zoom, among others. Shortly after that visit, Jobs told an Apple town hall meeting what he really thought of Google: "We did not enter the search business. They entered the phone business. Make no mistake: they want to kill the iPhone. We won't let them [...] This don't be evil mantra? It's bullshit."
The book also states that after Jobs found out about Android's similarities to iOS, he felt betrayed enough to somehow keep the development of the iPad hidden from Eric Schmidt while he was still a board member of Apple.

Confusion reigns over state of Best Buy iPad 2 sales
At least some Best Buy stores are holding back stock of the iPad 2, according to reports. One source claims that the retail chain has had all stock pulled except for demonstration units. Another initially explained that Apple was upset with a Best Buy policy, in which customers would be told there were no iPad 2s in stock when in reality a store had just reached a daily quota. Apple COO Tim Cook was said to be directly involved in resolving the situation, information supposedly backed by an Apple representative at a Best Buy outlet....Source: http://feeds.macnn.com/click.phdo?i=aa22d2f474f28da2c19dfadb684e4cbd

Pseudo-sync Safari Bookmarks on your own server
I use three Macs: one at work, and two more at home. Having access to the same bookmarks on all machines is really useful to me. I considered MobileMe, but it was not free. I considered xMarks, which seems to work well, but I'm concerned about the privacy of my bookmarks / passwords (read their privacy policy). I have my own server, so this solution is available to me. If you do not have your own server, then you will probably want to conside ...
